About AWARE®

AWARE® works to empower teens and young adults with the skills and information they need to build healthy relationships. AWARE® facilitates workshops about dating abuse and healthy relationships for students, parents, and educators at local schools, synagogues, camps and youth organizations. AWARE® also promotes healthy relationships and raises awareness about dating abuse on social media.

Description of Teen Advisory Board

The goal of the AWARE® Teen Advisory Board is to create a teen voice for AWARE® and a platform for local teens to express their support of teen dating abuse prevention. Teen Advisory Board members will help further the mission of AWARE® and share their input on AWARE® programs.

Members will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop their leadership, planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Raise awareness about healthy relationships and teen dating abuse
  • Meet other students from across the DC region who are also interested in promoting healthy relationships
  • Get involved in an important issue and gain skills to add to their resume
  • Receive community service hours for participation in the Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board will meet monthly from September-May. All meetings will be held on Thursday evenings in Rockville, MD. The first meeting will be Thursday, September 22nd!

 

Eligibility & Information

  •  10th-12th grade student
  •  Responsible, enthusiastic, organized, and a good listener
  •  Available to meet on Thursday evenings during the 2016/2017 school year and attend first meeting on September 22nd
  •  Earn SSL community service hours
